Then really like to download and install this fantastic program from Google.

First go to the download page for Google Earth.

Click "Download Google Earth 5.0.

Read the terms and if you agree click the button "Agree and Download".

Once you have the file you downloaded (assuming you downloaded to the Desktop) to give you execute permissions. To do this click on it with the right mouse button and choose Properties.

Go to the Permissions tab and check the box "Allow executing file as program".

Once done you have to open a console, also called terminal (the rookies not be afraid that it is very simple). This opens from Applications> Accessories> Terminal.

As you've downloaded the installation file on the Desktop, the first thing you do is put yourself into it. This terminal type in the following, pressing enter to execute the command:

cd Escritorio

And now to run the installation file you must type the following pressing Enter again to execute it:

sudo ./GoogleEarthLinux.bin

We use "sudo" to run the command with root permissions because if not, you can not install programs. You are prompted for a password. This is your user password in Ubuntu. You have to type (on the screen does not see any sign that you're writing, but do not worry, the password will be recorded, is a security feature of UNIX systems). Press Enter and the following window.

Click the "Start Installation".

Wait while installing.

Tieness the program already installed. Click Exit to finish the installation or Login if you want to run and the program. You can run the file at any time from Applications> Internet> Google Earth.

If you notice that the program is very slow and CPU load much you recommend it to uncheck the option to show the atmosphere from the View menu> Atmosphere.

Finally here you can watch a video explaining the new features in this version.

A few days ago we discussed how to install Chromium (free project that deriving Google Chrome) in the system Ubuntu and other GNU / Linux. Back then and even now, is in pre-alpha. The truth is that the project is very active and almost every day the update manager notifies of new updates. Today I got to watch a web browser from it and I brought the pleasant surprise that it supports tabs. It is seen that they are working hard on the project and in a few months we will have a fully functional version.

Almost everyone knows and Google Chrome, the Google browser. Chromium is an open source software project that is based on Google Chrome.

He just released the first pre-alpha version for GNU / Linux on this browser. To install on Ubuntu have to follow the following steps:

Edit the file /etc/apt/sources.list to include the following lines:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main

There are versions for hardy, intrepid and jaunty. If your version is not intrepid, please change the question.

Then update the repository list and install:

sudo aptitude update

sudo aptitude install chromium-browser

We can access the program from Applications> Internet> Web Browser Chromium.

It is noteworthy that this is a very primitive version (even supports tabs), a pre-alpha. Just open the browser will appear the next page.

It told us that the browser is not ready, which is woefully incomplete, Chromium is not Google Chrome, which still bugs are not sent because it has huge holes and the search for errors is not the problem today, not I highly publicized as being an incomplete version can create negative first impressions (as happened to KDE4), and tell us how we can help the project.
